#354 Durante Motors "Twin Schnozzer" Engine (On30)

$54.95

Inspired by the early industrial critter locomotives made by Mack and other producers, the "legendary" Durante Motor Works jumped into the fray with production of their powerful little Twin Schnozzer Engine inthe early 1930s.

According to the company's internal memos, the performance and versatility of this loco was "nothing to sneeze at!"

This is an ideal "first kit" to get started!  And loads of fun for experience modelers, too.  Click here to preview the instructions.

Super-Detailed kit includes complete cab with interior controls, two snoots with radiators ... and your choice of hood ornaments (shown) or plain radiator caps ... plus two bells, steps, stanchion-type grabs and wire railings.  We've loaded the cab and roof with scads of tiny rivets for that great 1930s look ... and added WEIGHTED castings for great performance!

It's a little loco with a lot of punch!  Shown here with a 4" ruler.

You can run the Schnozzer on a micro-layout with our little shorty or pedestal cars ... or the Bachmann V-tips and side-dumps ... but it's also right at home with bigger equipment like the BVM 20' stock car shown here.

We opted for a jazzy two-tone paint scheme that was inspired by a photo of a tan-and-black Model A of the same vintage ... but you can keep it nice and simple for a more down-to-business industrial look.  (The fellow in the photo was heard to say, "Where's the BACK of this thing?)

The Arttista #1306 Brakeman works well as an engineer as shown at left.  (Figure not included)

Just for kicks:  I found some Jimmy Durante "wav" files at http://www.pcdon.com/AlJolsonJimmyDuranteEddieCantor.html.  The wav format will play with Windows Media Player.  Great tunes ... have fun!

We like it just the way it is ... but you can Kitbash or Calabash any way you like ... wherever you are!

  • Scale dimensions:  15' long over footboards, 6' 9" wide across roof, 10' 6" tall
  • Requires Bachmann HO 45-ton switcher with siderods (NOT the 44-ton)
  • Minimum radius:  Easily operates on 12" radius, should do 10" radius just fine.
  • We've had reports of 7-1/2" bare minimum radius ... might require extended couplers or other mods to make that work!
  • Kit requires assembly!  You'll need ACC or 5-minute epoxy, basic modeling tools and your choice of paints to finish.
  • Figures and lettering not included.
